I love photography and great architecture. So, for the last ten years I've been documenting the work of
Steve Wynn's
hotels; in my free-lance manner. Wynn's new Encore opened on December 22nd, 2008 at 9PM. My camera and I
went to the hotel at 6 AM, the next morning, to see what Steve Wynn has accomplished this time around.
Quite honestly, I must say that I have never been so overwhelmingly impressed, by a Las Vegas hotel, in my entire
life - having seen prior openings of 1973's MGM, Bellagio, Venetian, Mandalay Bay, Paris, Palms and Red Rock.
The Encore is beyond belief! It is a living piece of art. As the second part of the Wynn Resort, Encore perfectly
completes the hotel-complex by making the resort a city in itself. Every step I took led to something extraordinary.
And everywhere I looked presented a stunning new sight of opulent beauty. My feelings towards the Encore can't
be summed up with mere words. Words can only fail to describe this manmade wonder. Which...after all...is why
I take photographs and show them on this website.
In the coming days I will be adding over 100 photos of the interior details on the Encore Hotel. I was only able to
spend 40 minutes there and could barely capture the cornucopia of imagery. But, what I saw will surely impress
you as it did me. If dreams could come true I'd spend a month there taking in all the sights, since it takes awhile
to absorb all there is to see. Somehow, Steve Wynn has created the most intimate and romantic resort
in Las Vegas.
How he ever accomplished this feat is beyond me. Encore might be the most luxurious hotel on Earth. I wouldn't know.
Hopefully, my photos can do Encore slight justice. But, you'll have to visit there in person - to be as blown away as I was.
In college, he majored in interior design & art - as well as sculpting, textiles, ceramics & even goldsmithing! His sensibility is seen
throughout Encore. Working as a team, Steve Wynn - the Artistic General - and Roger Thomas have created a monument to design.
