Rory Storm remained a local Liverpool star for awhile, but was passed over by record producers during their rush to sign up new
Mersey Beat bands. Rory died on October 1972 (along with his mother) from sleeping pills. In the 1975 movie 'That'll Be the Day'
...a story which re-created the early days of the the Hurricanes...the main character (Stormy Tempest) was based on Rory Storm.
Bill Fury played the role of Rory in the movie. You can see an early film clip of Rory on the 3rd video-rarities screen.
When the Beatles arrived in America, in 1964, just two months after the assasination of America's President - it was their
new style music, fashions and hairstyles that uplifted an entire generation of mourning young people who were more than ready
for something new to fascinate them. When the Beatles' song 'I Want to Hold Your Hand' hit the American radio airwaves, just a
month before their arrival in the U.S., the new, happy sound instantly galvanized young Americans. The impact was phenomenal.
To fully understand the Beatles'impact on American (and world) culture, a person needs to consider the historical time they arrived.
The Beatles album 'Please, Please Me' was released on November 22, 1963 - the exact same day that JFK died. When the Beatles
came to America, fully developed and something completely new and totally up-beat, it was a 'God-Send' to the youth of this country.

After the success of their 'Love Me Do' single (which reached #17 on the British record charts) record producer George Martin called
them into the Abbey Road Studios on February 11, 1963 to record their first long-playing album. The album, titled 'Please Please Me',
topped the charts in England for over seven months. It was later released in the United States (on January 20th - two weeks before
their February 7th, 1964 appearance on The Ed Sullivan Show) with a different album cover photo, under the name 'Introducing the
Beatles' (minus two songs - 'Please Please Me' and 'Ask Me Why').

WITH THE BEATLES
November 22, 1963
The second Beatles' album 'With the Beatles' was released in the UK on November 22, 1963. Ironically that was the same day
that President Kennedy was assasinated. The death of JFK was a time of shock and mourning for the teenagers of the time.
The arrival of the Beatles on American television, just 43 days after the President's funeral, provided young people in
the USA with a much needed new, fresh outlook and spirit of happiness. The Beatles filled a tremendous void and
brought a feeling to hopefullness to America's teenagers.
The songs on the Beatles' Btitish albums were released on American albums in a non-chronological order on the following
American Beatles' Capitol Records albums: 'The Beatles 2nd Album' - April 1964, 'Something New' - July 1964,
'Early Beatles' - March 1965, and Beatles VI - July 1965.

BEATLES FOR SALE
December 4, 1964
This was the Beatles' album that presented an entirely different style of lyrics than thier previous songs. Tired of music critics
saying their albums were mainly filled with 'happy love songs', The Beatles sought to create a darker version of love songs
'No Reply', I'm a Loser', Baby's in Black', etc.). They also included songs written by Buddy Holly, Chuck Berry, Carl
Perkins and Leiber & Stoller. The American version of this album was titled 'Beatles' 65'.
No Reply
I'm A Loser
Baby's In Black

I'll Follow The Sun

HELP!
August 6, 1965
This album was composed of songs from the Beatles' second movie. The American version of this album only had
seven of these songs, though they were released on other singles or albums (like 'Rubber Soul')
Help!

You've Got To Hide Your Love Away
I Need You
Another Girl
You're Going To Lose That
Ticket To Ride
Act Naturally
It's Only Love
You Like Me Too Much
Tell Me What You See

RUBBER SOUL
December 6, 1965
Even though 'Rubber Soul' was released in December 1965 - I've placed it in the next section of the Beatles' 1966-1980 music
videos, mainly because it was released so late in the year (and in the middle of the decade) when a distinctly marked departure
began from the Early Beatles sound and the beginning of their new, psychedelic music period. Click the link at the bottom of
this page for 'Rubber Soul' and all the rest of the Beatles' album info and videos.
